Unbelievable. Someone managed to steal one of our tapes and leak the footage online. The tape itself contains only leftover footage from the cutting room floor. It exposes the ugly side of Take Zer0, and the hurdles we go through to shoot an episode. We may as well post this embarrassing footage, just to confront the inevitable. You can't stop the internet.

Today's lesson is this: there's usually a lot more going on behind the scenes of a movie. In an industry full of stress and overwork, "movie magic" results from what the editor chooses to leave out.

  • Are you serious? So if you have a DVX you record in 24p hook it up via firewire to say your Mac capture it Final Cut at settings for 24p it'll be in 29.97 30 FPS?

  • Kinda, your software will have to do a pulldown or some kind of conversion. So in the end, you'll still get 24 fps, but it won't be as clean as it could be.

  • Just a Question, the first part and the last are recorded with the same camera?? what post did you do the the last part to make it look like that? or is it just taped with a diferent camera? whats your compresion metod for youtube?

    cheers

  • Heh, it was actually opposite of what you're thinking. Output from our camera looks like the last part. We degraded it for the beginning :)

We use .wmv videos at 100% quality

  • haha peter you slave driver

  • this reminds me of when i shoot my videos exactly the same thing :)

at first i thought it was part of the episode heh.

good stuff though, you teach me alot for my videos! thanks for the help

  • Your stuff really makes me chuckle.

  • lmao this happens all the time. And its usually funny as hell after the fact, but when u tryin to get it done u get irritated

  • "You know what... That's all you're getting..." HAHA!! I'm a cheap skate when it comes to film. I've got a bad habit rather film too little than too much. But you guys helped me alot!

  • My friends are making a movie that is an hour long and it is their first video. This is a perfict example of what will happen to them because they will be under alot of stress because it will be hard to keep them under controll. When i worked withe them i was under alot of stess and olny for a 5 minut movie. The director will have alot of trouble.

  • The scary part is that the acting was a little too easy and effortless, if you get my meaning.

Sean and I should look into counseling.

  • Very convincing, had me going up until Peter became a bit too cliche director like then I got suspecicious.

  • yeah I hate all the stress one of my least favorite parts. I usually pick more mellow people to work with.

  • ooo ok thnx! makes perfect sense now

  • Looks like Peter was a bit cranky. Haha.. Just kidding. So.. I was a bit confused but did you lose the actual "Cutting Room Floor" episode? Because I am interested in what it would be about.
