  • And futhermore (see last comment):

Any music is derived from this piece: classic, jazz, rock, pop, hiphop, etc.

  • For my money Pogorelich's interpretation of this piece is the highpoint in musical history.

I unfortunately lost my grandmothers recording, where Pogo is even better than here.

Alternative highpoints include among others Perlman playing Bach's chaconne and Svjatoslav Richter playing Rach 3 (or almost any Rachmaninov)

  • Magnifique interprétation !!!

    Merci

  • @arturon111 And can you tell when, exactly IP lost the equilibrium on this performance?

    Cheers.

    ps. I am a pianist.

  • @jackk2100 --- dont think so, i play the piece, and believe i understand what he is traying to do,... but there is a fine line between genius and DISTORTION,... music is the art of balance,... and beethoven certainly achieved it to a higher degree than perhaps anyone else,... the last thing beethoven needs is a performance that is not balanced, and certainly not in his last sonata,...

  • @arturon111 you're not able understand him maybe ;)

  • complete lack of understanding of the piece,... the arietta, unfortunately he makes it sound like an exercise,... especially the last variations,... Pogorelich's incredible technical/digital talent with complete lack of musical/spiritual understanding....

  • Though he manipulates the tempo too much here, the opening is remarkably expressive and technically well done.

  • I like the (very slow) tempo in the second mouvement

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I've loved this piece for years and have never seen Pogorelich play it, although I've had the recording for a long time.
