  • There is a book called maximum boost I think by someone like Corkney Bell, probably spelt wrong. this is a recommended read, before embarking on a turbo project, the mixture they talk about is the Air fuel Ratio under boost conditions mine is around 11:1 too much ignition timing can also be a real turbo engine killer so good tuning is a must. hope this helps.

  • Hi smoothjamskillmoure, they're not the quietest engines and mine failed sound test at my first track session, I have since fitted another silencer so is a little quieter, but still sounds sporty when pushed, not sure how quiet you can make them as i've always liked the purr of the engine. A 280zx and 240z both use the same type of engine so will sound very similar, hope this helps and good luck with the project.

  • Is it possible to put twin turbo onto the L series engine and tune it up to around 650HP in real life just like the one in the wangan midnight anime?.

  • I have seen L series turbo with around 600bhp single and twin turbo versions.

  • Is this car in the Orange, CA area?

  • Where are the side view mirrors? lol

  • damn that thing is beautiful

  • @dog155065 Of course! Maybe a bit tricky though if planning to use triple carbs. You would have to have the experience with the carbs if you plan to crank it up to those numbers.

  • damn! im jealous

  • Nice 240z!

  • @Zed240z 11:1 is referring to compression~~ pay more attention

  • Easier to work on? than a z? unless youre working with legos it doesnt get much easier than a z. Your only worry is rust sealing things in place.

  • yeah i suppose i should, library, thats the big place with all those "book ja ma call its" right? do those still exist? :) I know what you mean about the haynes manual being confusing though, i have one for my buick and it covers alot of material but its pretty vague and uses terminology that if you knew, you probably wouldn't need the book in the first place.
