@wolverineeagle Sorry, you are wrong and that's not nice. America is the greatest nation in the world and we need to get back to being that indeed. We need GOD to be first place in our nation again and get back to being a righteous nation.

I think for me it was all from experience and experimentation over the last 40 years or so. You were probably hoping for an easier answer. :^)

Thanks for your comment. I assume that those criticizing the lyrics are actually talking about the message of the lyrics.
Everyone is entitled to his own opinion and I respect that. I wish I could be proud of the way America has presented itself to the world the last 8 years, but I can't. I know we can do better than this and I'm very optimistic that we will. We can once again be respected by our allies and even our enemies. It can happen.

Of course, you may just not like the lyrics from a literary standpoint. If so, thanks for your comment and feel free to offer suggestions for improvement.

America hasn't gone anywhere. America is as it always was--a deeply flawed nation.
How about you people wake up to the reality that is America and mankind--a viscious, unforgiving, selfish, organism. That is real, that is who we are.

That's a pretty cynical viewpoint, wolverineeagle. When you say "you people", are you referring to me for writing this song or maybe you're dissing the other commenters who liked the song?
I guess you missed the point of the song, maybe because you're too young to remember a time when we could be proud of the direction and achievements of our country. The America you describe may be who we are, but it's not who we were.
