Christ I have not heard a worse version of this song and I'm drunk at the moment so thats definately not good. It is a traditional British sailor song and it has been 'Raked' and 'Broadsided' by these Lubbers lol

but to be passed of as an american pirate song for children in disneyland of all places, i feel is an insult to this song.

there is however a canadian variant as you say but the original is british navy. just for background info, the canadian version was adapted from the bitish one in the 19thC on a voyage out of newfoundland.

Very true, but that's the nature of folk songs, the lyrics change to suit whoever's singing it. I point you to a song by Great Big Sea called 'Rant and Roar' - also uses the tune of Spanish Ladies, but is sung about Newfoundland.

As much as it pains me to hear a British song made into a Yankee tune, this isn't entirely bad :P
