Blue fire in my hand

Software: Adobe After Effects
Plugins used: Particle Playground

This is my first (now that's a lie, i've had a couple tests but this is the best so far) experiment on animating my blue fire coming from hand, made in Adobe After Effects.

I think the lighting is ok! Keyed out some light parts of myself and the background and had them lit and color balanced.

The secret of these kinds of effects imo to make it look like the environment is reacting realistically. The smartest way to that of course is using some real life lighting on set but I have none so this little keying-trick worked pretty ok I think!

As for the animation, I added some animated fractal noise as well as turbulent displace (with the particle playground) to give the fire more life.

@Lukasmahovic Yes. And with a couple of layers on top adjusting a lot of the appearance. PP is quite limited though so I prob wouldn't be able to do anything more complex with it.

Why don't you people use some sort of sounds for such "tests"? Sounds make more than you think.

@llextazyll Simply because sound is equally important as visuals. Since I spent a few hours making this I have to spend enough time making a good sound effect as well, and I'm just not that interested (or good at) sound effect design. So I leave it soundless, for the better :)

@javoire Do you have cc particle systems or world? They aren't as powerfull as trapcode particular, but they are very usefull.
