A late Sousa March from 1921. It was written for the Ancient Arabic Order Of The Nobles Of The Mystic Shrine. Today, we just call them "Shriners" Despite their exotic name, this group is American as apple pie. People who live in NYC know of a building called City Center that is a landmarked piece of gorgeous neo-Moorish architecture. It was built in the early 1920's as the home of the AAONMS and in the early 1940's NYC bought it to use as an arts center.
