OMG! once i heard the barking i was like that song! haha xD i used to hear it ALL THE TIME!!! who sings it?....Wished there was a Khmer School here. =/ I'd go haha.

Is it possible to write down the sounds that these vowels make "Phonetically"?
Like you said,  I have trouble telling the difference when the change is subtle.

Yes, its possible as long as you remember the difference. The second vowel actually sounds little heavier than the first one so remember that.
