This exercise engages a TON of muscle. At the extremes of the movement are two traditional yoga poses, downward facing dog and upward facing dog. In between, the movement between the two, the upper body, (primarily the shoulders and arms) are effectively in a fighting equilibrium with the legs. The movement from upward facing dog to downward facing dog is driven by the contraction of the abdominal muscles, pulling the core toward the sky.
