Leopard Gecko eating Greenhorn Worm - Tobacco Worm/Colossal Worm

My 6yr old Leopard Gecko Mr. Fatty Pants eating a Green Horn Worm... pretty good sized worm, probably 3-4 days old.

He goes right for the head ;)

hey man im confused about when to use the heat lamp. or when the gecko should be sleeping. could you help out? thanks

@11aamiller - I have two heat lamps, one is set on a timer, the other is on 24/7.

The timer one would go from 6am to 6pm and that seemed to make him happy ;)

@Sketchor oh okok so what temp is your hot side and what temp is your cold side? also i just got mine yesterday from a friend and he gave me the tank too just changed the bedding so he should be use to it right? well its seems to be sleeping now for almost 24 hours. its gotten up a couple times licked the calcium supplement once but never ate any worms yet. I'm just worried why is he sleeping so long and also why isnt it eating.sorry about speech thank you soooo much for responding

@11aamiller Remember these guys live in the desert in pakistan, and it's hot there! Yah, he should be used to the bedding by now, although it takes a while sometimes. My gecko is in sand, which they say you should only do if they are young and grow up on sand. 24hrs is normal.. and they are nocturnal and shy, so he will come out when you're sleeping and not around. You may want to try feeding him a worm by moving it around and making it dance... their vision isn't great usually.

At petsmart they're 39.99 but the closer pet store is PJ's.

@shinocicada Yah, I live in Toronto, I got my Leo as a hand-me-down from my brother, so I guess it was free? ;)

@11aamiller hey, my gecko did the same thing. He's nochternal (how ever u spell it) they are active at night.

Get 1 heat lamp for the day,

Get 1 Black light for night.

They tend to be more active at night.

@Sketchor ok i understand now. \hell have his eyes open but when i look into the cage he either shuts his eyes or looks away. yes i have tried moving the worm. i do not know what the problem is bc the owner before me just feed it meal worm. but it turns it nose up to them now. i might just try crickets. thank you for your information its helping keeping a leo alive! thanks man ill stay a loyal fan. ha
