It was a nice sunny morning (28/072009) and I was preparing to embark on a short maintenance run when I realised that my Flip Mino video camera had not charged despite being connected to my computer. Not only had the battery not charged, the battery had completely discharged. The alternatives were to not bother with a camera, audio record my run using my iPhone or my iPod, take my Nikon P6000 digital camera which has video capability or carry my miniDV Panasonic video camera. The novelty of using the recently purchased P6000 was most alluring and so I used it. The video turned out well but audio is a bit muffled and the wind has had a deleterious effect on the quality of the final product. It was, however, a useful experiment. The stabilization built into the P6000 seemed to work well and video and digital stills could be taken easily and to fairly good effect on the run. The mechanism of the camera was easy to use and the weight was acceptable even when running. Video quality was clearly superior to the Mino but the audio was poor.

The run was enjoyable and the body coped well.
