Sphere is a simple 2D game in development using Microsoft's XNA. This is the first game I have made, so it is still a work in progress. It was mostly an attempt to learn game programming. The player controls the white sphere, and the object of the game is to avoid the other spheres as the bounce around the playing field. As time goes by, the game gets faster.

  • XNA and C# is only 1-2% slower on the CPU and games are mostly GPU anyway. It also requires less coding for the same result. C++ is 25 years old and isn't as organized. Things are changing. Both languages will be widely used for developers.

  • Oh yeah, look at me, I'm an elitist programmer, ASM is the best!

Please. There's a reason why XNA uses C#, and it's exactly because of its easier approach and managed structure. Both which C++ isn't.

Real games that need the absolutely best performance will always be done on C++, but for everything else, C# is a leap forward.

  • impressive game, only i was looking for an actual sphere rendered in XNA, wrong place i guess lol

  • very cool...plus the music is a nice touch.

  • ...so how do I get this to run on Linux?

  • it is..

  • That is awfully presumptuous of you to say..

  • even if the slow-mo effect isn't on purpose, it's still very cool ;)
