Well...post-workout it's basically the time, it's then the body's reserves are depleted, catabolic hormones are to the max, it helps muscles recover, they don't get stored as fat if the quantity is reasonable, plus you won't need a "Charging day" if you take them like this. Or at least that's my knowledge...

Hey I have been having severe back cramps for the last 5 days since starting the diet 2 weeks ago but no leg cramps. Would it be potassium and or calcium?

I don't think back cramps has anything to do with your low-carb lifestyle, but certainly taking potassium will help with any cramping associated with your diet. Dr. Mary C. Vernon says to drink bouillon broth to restore your electrolyte balance in the early days of low-carb. Hope this helps!
