  • could always just download the .iso file and load it in the virtualbox machine rather than a usb if you can help it, that made it easier for me to add liinux distros to the virtualbox setup and make as many as i wanted.

A honeypot is a system that resides on your network that appears to be vulnerable, however it is isolated from the sensitive areas of your internal network. In simple terms it is a "trap" that allows network/system administrators the ability to find out how hackers comprise their systems, which can be used to apply patches/fixes on production systems, so it doesn't happen when it matters most!

  • Haha the last few seconds were the best part.

  • @djsting

ignore it and it will go away..... hopefully

  • @TheWindowsHack I agree that many are still in the dark about linux.I would disagree that a majority of those people watch hak5. Like I told another user, Linux is a great OS but there can be a steep learning curve. It has a little ways to go before it's a viable OS in the average household. Also, Hak5 isn't about promoting an OS. It's about learning various tips and tricks using the tools available. They use linux alot but ignoring windows is ignoring the rather large elephant in the room.

  • @jackclark1981 I use virtualbox at home. The webserver I maintain at work is ubuntu server running apache. I know my way around linux and like it as an OS. I just think it's got a ways to go before it becomes a viable replacement to windows/mac in your average household.

  • Once again, booting a usb drive in VirtualBox doesn't have to be that "complicated".

Just boot the PloP-iso and select USB,PloP will boot the usb drive, even without BIOS support.

    Just a quick tip.

    Greetz

  • @jesuswasblack00 it's pc/vm/etc... With vulnerabilities that it is put there on purpose to make an attacker believe the target is vulnerable thus you being able to catch the attacker. Look for it on google

  • Bite me? Realy? ;)
