My White Bellied Caique and Lutino Lovebird wrestle and play #1

This is video of my White Bellied Caique, Pooter and my 8 month old baby lovebird Big-Bird (who was from the clutch of five babies I raised last summer). They love spending time together on top of Pooter's cage. He is ULTRA gentle with her and she is SO patient with him in return. I think the reason for this bond and play time is Big-Bird sees Pooter as, well, her boyfriend! She is almost always the instigator and will bow and spread her wings out in a mating display sometimes. This is how I discovered she was female (and I know Pooter is male)! Pooter takes these cues from her and will respond very gently. If Big-Bird protests (sharp, chirps), he will back off right away. Then the play begins again and he will even allow her to chew on his feet! It's amazing to watch these two and they can spend hours together. It's a unique bond they share and while it's cute to watch, it's only allowed under VERY close supervision. I will be posting some more video of these two rolling, preening and wrestling.
