R.I.P Char

Char gave one heck of a fight but unfortunately, she had to be put down after a bad case of colic. The vet believed she had a twisted gut, he tried everything he could to get her to untwist but no luck. Because her hooves were in the condition that they were, trailering her to the university for surgery was not an option. For the whole story, message me.

I am seriously heartbroken. I feel completely lost and empty without her. Like I said, she was everything to me. I loved Char more than life itself. I really thought before all of this colicing, she was going to make it through and be ok. I watched videos of her running in the pasture and when I was riding her and would cry but tell myself that one day she will be back to that.

I just can't believe she is gone. I am absolutely dreading going to the barn, getting her things and walking past that spot in the arena where we put her down. I just can't handle it.

I miss her so much and I just feel lost without her, that's the best way I can explain it.

She was not only a part of my family, she was my best friend.

Jake and Char are all I have and now with Char gone there is a hole in my heart that will always be there.

I am really sorry for you. How old was Char? Do you know why she foundered?

Char was 8 well 9 years old according to APHA rules. but she was turning 9 on May 10th. She foundered because of the farrier.

This is a great video, i'm so sorry, we just lost one of our horses to colic and possible cancer. i know how you feel. but just know they are in green pastures forever in horsey heaven <3

There was a treatment but it was 10,000 and he was in so much pain that they didn't think he would make it through the night anyways so we decided to make the decision. It was the hardest thing to do in my life. That was about 4 years ago and I still tear up at the thought of him. He was my baby boy and my best friend. He was only 5 years old too.

I finally got him back on track when he coliced again and we took him back to the university but he only stayed there over night and then I got with a big trainer and was planning on going to my first paint show with him when he coliced again. We took him back over to the university. He stayed there two days and it turned out that he had Interior Anteritos Disease which basically means that at any time for no reason his small intestine would just shut down.

Sorry to here about her :( I know exactly how you feel. I had to go through almost the exact same thing with my old paint Skippy. he coliced when he was 3 and we took him to the university to get surgery and after 5 months of rehab I could start riding again.

I've also met horses that have been neglected and abused. They were so beautiful, I couldn't imagine why someone would do something that horrible to them. I know how you feel. A hole does become in your heart. It's a terrible fealing.

omg I'm so sorry. :( Char is one of the most beautiful paints I've ever seen. I totally know how you feel. A horse I was close to had to be put down cause he had something worng with his hooves and couldn't be fixed. Biscuit had eventually died. :( When I think about him tears come to my eyes.
