  • Hey since it's een a good 3-4 months after the vid, how big has the aussie gotten. I've been told they grown about as high as a border collie but end up weight a good 2 times more than it as it becomes a full grown adults. Does that seem likely to you? Thanks.

  • @Cenon2007 ........If you have heard that they are supposed to be double the weight I think someone compared working line BC (wich can be very small and very light) to a full grown aussie male...Fits better at least :) This BC is showing line.

But yes, aussies are bigger, and definitely heavier :)

  • @BettySue0 What is the difference between showing and working? I'm assuming Working is well... a herding farm dog and what not. What is showing?

  • @Cenon2007 Yeah, a working dog is bred on it's abilitys to work, herd, guard and so on. Many people use working line bc for agility and obedience too. Working line aussies arn't as common, at least not where i live. They tend to become quiet sharp as working dogs, since they have very strong guarding instincts.

Showing line on the other hand is bred more to fit the breed standard. That does not meen that they are not good working dogs.

  • @Cenon2007 Both showing line aussies and BC are amazing working dogs, just a bit easyer family dogs. In working lines you breed on the best working dog, so temperament might come second some times. In showing lines temperament is very important. The type of aussie I have is a showing line/therapy line...they are bred to work, with people as therapydogs or as rescuedogs or just as agility dogs or other dog sports.

  • @Cenon2007 I like that mix very much since they have amazing working abilities but are also wonderful family members.

Then there's the showing line from america..I dont have muche experience with them, so i dont know how their workingabilities are compared with my dog :)

  • @Cenon2007 Hi! You can see two videos I took yesterday with my Aussie, now 1 year old. The bordercollie in this video is a big one..Aussies are supposed to be a bit higher then border collies, wich fits well with mine, she is now the same hight or a bit higher then the bc in this video. But she weights 22 kg (she is about 51 cm high) , compared with the BC that was around 18.
