@Fabionkeman ...its not really horrible its just a bit flat compared to what we are used to today ... everything back then was real dead with an emphasis on the fatness ... contrast that with what we hear today , big crack from the drums , lots of ringing and reverberation on the snare ....
-
If that's an horrible sound...then I wanna get an horrible sound out of my snare drum!! :)
-
best quote is : " the music is what inspires me to play the drums ,its not the drums that inspire me to play the music " ,well actually its best for me cause i can really really relate to that
-
the best quote is at 3:14. "You see what im talkin bout. funny as hell.
-
if anyone has seen that video of gadd playing brushes on an Ampeg reel to reel tape box he sings this same song ....
-
this is 1983 ... that was the studio sound in that day ... that horrible sounding snare sound was what everyone was going for then ... if you went into a gig in 1983 with todays snare drum sound they would put tape all over the head and probably throw down a wallet on it as well .

seriousley, like, what the f was that! lol, he's super fast
-
at least he didn't use a remo black dot.

It probably is expensive, but it isn't a desired sound for brushes due to the 'O" ring. That wasn't the point of my comment though...
