Warning - Slideshow with Audio!

During a radio interview in March 1996, the Foo Fighters performed an alternative version of Wattershed with Dave improvising lyrics in the voice of Fred Schneider of the B-52's. Enjoy!

  • Was Pat lead guitar or was it Dave??

  • @utuber377 Dave was originally the lead guitarist. Once Pat left and they got Franz and later Chris, Dave handed over lead guitarist dutiies as they are both better guitarists than him. Dave still plays lead guitar on early songs though - he still plays the same parts because he knows those parts better. You really see that transition to rhythm guitar by the time they're touring for the third album.

  • You didn't know that? Yes, Dave recruited Pat after Pat heard Dave's demo tape that became the first Foo Fighters album. Pat only stayed for about 2 1/2 years and decided to leave to do other things. He's actually back playing with them as part of their extended touring lineup (since 2006).

P.S., please don't call them Fooeys - it undermines their awesomeness.

  • @jenfine why he had left the band (pat)?

  • @andygrohl08 The official story was that he was tired of touring (which they did a lot of back then). There were other rumors as to why, but it doesn't matter. He's back in the band again, so its all good.

  • I think this is even better than the christopher walken interview

  • @jenfine nerd.

  • It's foolsh for people to badmouth William Goldsmith. He isn't a bad drummer, he just didn't suit the sound dave grohl wanted. :)

  • 'May I dispose of your Dairy Queen bag?'

  • L O FUCKING L

  • @777jackpot0 Hey Sweetie, where's your sense of humor?

  • Holy shit. I'm gonna be in the same room as the foo fighters tomorrow! :D I love DG, he is amazing! (it was really tasty, my skin is pasty) xD

  • Every Foo Fighters fan should hear this.

  • @MoonstruckRules fuckin' right!

  • @EccentricRichard You shurely don't know Sunny Day Real Estate. Sure he's not the powerhouse drummer Taylor and Dave are, but he is very decent. And Dave didn't fire him. He wasn't happy with the tracks he did on their record, so he rerecorded them. After knowing about it Will quit the band. Dave just though he didn't fit their sound, but he recognized Will as a pretty good drummer from the start when he watched him play with Nate in Sunny Day Real Estate.
