Small Recording Setup on Mac Mini

This is a beginner setup that I currently have with my Mac Mini. I have a CAD GXL2400 condenser mic connected to a Behringer Xenyx 1202FX mixer connected to my line-in on my Mac Mini. I have small speakers hooked up to the line-out of my Mac Mini to work as the "monitor" to hear the live recording and playback. This is just a real basic/cheap setup for podcasts or even vocal and instrument recording.

hi, i had brought my microphone from zzounds.com. it gave me the mic and a shockmount only with no cable, where can i buy a cable for the mic and do i need a specific cable for the microphone

@ic3man90 You just need a regular XLR female cable. You can get them online or at any music store like Sam Ash or Guitar Center

for some reason i can not get my microphone to record to my computer like no levels come up or anything is there somehting im doing wrong

Is that a rca to usb? cause you said youre running it straight to your mac.

@stuntboy556 I have it running to my mixer through the standard XLR cable then from the mixer to the back of my Mac through an rca to 3.5mm cable

@kloquewerk SHORT XLR cables are good.. longer XLR cables can lose quality. Google.. BEST XLR CABLE for quality xlr's
