73106 and 73138 go down the Quay on a Pathfinder Tours excursion at the Spring Bank Holiday weekend - result glorious mayhem! It's amazing that no one fell under the wheels.

  • what were the sounds between 2:12 and 2:46

i assume because it is concrete insted of metal

  • I guess slow motion flange-scraping, possibly, as you suggested, given an extra resonance by the surrounding concrete.

  • What a fantastic video!! Must have took some organisation..must have been a strange sight to see this monster on the streets of Weymouth!! Especially on the tramway..unbelieveable!! Was it a special tour?

  • Yes - it was a Pathfinders Tour

  • Great. Just come back from Weymouth on holiday.

noticed all the track is still intacted. What's the plan for the Quay line?

  • I think that there are possible plans, which may have stalled due to financial situation, for a hotel and retail complex near the old ferry terminal. If successful they might have incorporated the tramway in the project....but I may be wrong!

  • God imagine your waking up after a messy night out in Weymouth... and you open the curtain to find a Class 66 at your window, The driver notices your gazing at the loco, MEGA TONE!!!!!!!!!! Thats how it should be ;) lol

  • Now the Quay branch is being closed, how about a couple of specials this Summer to send off in style? Sad times for Weymouth Quay 2011.

  • Definitely needs a bell on the loco. And possibly a cowcatcher.

  • @mcgherkinstudios Someone has actually uploaded it onto here - it's a great film!

  • @Inkyminkyzizwoz Can't say that I've seen it :(

  • @wellowvids Apparently in February 2009 the Council agreed to purchase it from Network Rail for £50,000 because the latter confirmed they didn't want to keep it, but some people want it to be retained for the 2012 Olympics to transport people to and from the sailing events there.

  • @mcgherkinstudios Almost reminds me of the secene in The Titfield Thunderbolt where the engine goes down the street!

  • Even trains get lost.

  • a smaller engine mi thinks. With a bloke waving a red flag and ringing a bell.

  • Just a FYI, the class 73 locos like this were electro-diesels, capable of running from 3rd rail electricity supply, or they also have a small diesel engine to enable running on non-electrified lines.
