I was surprised to see one of my drawings here. Thank you for using it. It dates from my series "Bluesportraits". Twenty pencildrawings of bluesheros, I made in 2006.

Truckin' My Blues Away (Blind Boy Fuller, Ragtime Guitar Legend)
-
@sneakyyellowdog Wikipedia has a great little write up of Blind Boy Fuller. It doesn't have the date for the recording of this song, but it does say that this song is where the phrase "keep on truckin" originated. The phrase was popular in the 1970's and 80's (from my own personal experience of hearing it a lot back then). I am supposing that the guy that answered 1936 is probably right, but I didn't see that information in what I've read so far.

I used to sing this from a young age...

awesome song

@Passthepie you're right, that's what's cool. It's the same chords but they pluck it out and do runs in original ways, exploring the scales and harmonies, almost like a musical thesaurus.

Remember the cover by Hot Tuna with Papa John Creach? 1972. Great tune.

I know that many blues and ragtime songs share chord progressions, but this is very similar to Robert Johnson's They're Red Hot, which was recorded in 1937.

Love this song since I was 20 years old! Now I'm 49 and it is still magic to me!
