It is my understanding that keeping batteries on concrete drains them and ultimately kills them. Nice setup though. I keep my batteries on a piece of plywood.

Thats actually a myth now. From my understanding, batteries 100 years ago didn't have the nice quality plastic material we are using now. They would drain if on the cement floor but any battery made now doesn't have that problem. Actually having them on the cement is better because it keeps the temperature very stable which is always a plus.

@ElectricFormula It was my understanding that having them on top of something allowed air to move underneath the batteries, which cools them off.

@nomoreremakes the cement floor acts like a really big heat sink. The cement is just about always the same temperature all day long. If you lifted the batteries onto a rack, they would be the same temperature as the air temp. So when it is 100 degrees out, so would the batteries. The ground is always the same temp, ever lay on the garage floor and think, man it is cold. So that is the temp the batteries see when laying on the ground.
