I agree, they are jazz musicians they know where, when and how the grove is moving, they can read and predict eachothers groove before it happens that is how they can play off eachother and make it look like they have been playing together for years.
-
@iplaybassguitar ill go even a step further.... every single note was correct.
-
@rianbrito Chemistry or Magic? I'd go with Magic just 'cos it's alliterative.........Jaaazzzzz
...........Musical Magic! -
@iplaybassguitar i love how he went from a piece of shit to my friend hahahahaha, made my day.
this is great stuff
-
@iplaybassguitar jazz players and jazz listeners need to be able to defend their art and craft with better than "you're a piece of shit." None of that arrogance...We're clearly better than those that don't get jazz already ;)
-
How crazy they were. Scofield playing walking bass and jaco playing solo
-
@diegokillua Yo hago mas de un cambio de ritmo todo el tiempo, eso no es nada!
-
@iplaybassguitar Amen bro ....too many non musical mfers need their Jazz spoon fed to them.
-
me encanto el cambio de ritmo del final estuvo genial
-
@zambachango Away and don't talk nonsense.
-
Jaco played with him because he knew how much of a monster he was, he had a special sensibility, the kind of sensibility that you can not understand
-
@zambachango Perhaps he was the only person (besides Stern), who would agree to play with Jaco at the time?......
Ever think of that?
-
his note selection is the reason why he played with jaco and you didnt
-
Hey man,you can't feel jazz,Jaco using some JAZZ scales trought the harmony, and because of that choise of notes he is one of the biggest bass jazz fusion legends ! ! ! His creativity suffered last years, and this video is filmed on the december 1985, 20 monts before jaco's died ...
-
His note selection is his own taste, but I agree about his tone. You would think he could clean it up a bit for playing with an artist like Jaco.. Sounds more like a cat being squashed by a semi truck in an alley. A dirty blues tone, but not beautiful in itself.
-
He hits the wrong notes better than most players hit the right ones!
-
I despise Scofield's tone, and his note selection is rubbish! Of course, he'd probably say it was "atonal"....
-
Jaco's amazing! But, so are Sco and Dennard. Sco, in particular, being the lead AND rhythm instrument, must have had a trying time just following Jaco. Oh yes, Jaco led the direction of the music, make no mistake.
-
i don't like scofield that much... but pastorius and dennard are doing an awesome thing...
-
Jaco loved reggae,I've read that he went to Jamaica several times and met Aston Barrett, there's nothing weird about that.
-
For what it's worth, it's hard to play the bass well when you're drunk.
-
yeah thats my favorite part aswell:) the reason why i keep watching this again and again. jaco pastorius playing reggae.. and the weirdest thing about it is that its so great.
1:25...how did the drummer guess that??...so much musical chemestry going on...
