One of Africa's most spectacular (but least known) wildlife spectacles happen in a remote corner of Zambia between October and December every year. Between five and fifteen million straw-coloured fruit bats gather in Kasanka National Park to feast on the bounty of fruit at the start of the rainy season. While they disperse to forage at night, their densely populated roosts can be visited during the day.
