  • My daughter plays flute in the Wind Ensemble at her HS and the teacher / conductor said that flute is not a jazz instrument and should forget about trying out for the Jazz ensemble. I think I should send that teacher a link to this video. Simply wonderful!

  • Do! With an open mind, and some transposition/arranging, it is definitely possible to play flute in jazz ensemble. There are a number of wonderful jazz flautists! The Swingin' Shepherd's Blues (which I play a bit of in the video) is a jazz flute piece performed by Moe Koffman. I hope that you daughter is able to pursue her interest in jazz!

  • The first piccolo piece is 'Baby Elephant Walk' by Henry Mancini. It is a lot of fun, isn't it?!

  • This is the best jazz video I've ever seen in years. Thank you for posting it.

  • Lovely video!

  • Beautiful playing!

  • Fantastic! Hey, do you know what that first piccolo piece was? I'd love to learn that one! :)
