Terry Gilkyson and the Easy Riders released an album with a song called Quit Kickin' My Dog Around, in the late 50s. Terry's song was obviously inspired by this song, but his had completely different lyrics. His chorus went:
You can carve me up with a Bowie knife,
You can steal my wife,
But if you love your life,
Quit kickin' my dog around.
