Hey guys back again! And this time I'm going back to my musical theater background with the "Music of the Night", from the phantom of the opera!

This song..is the single reason I got into to theater. For those of you who do not know I had never sung before my senior year in high school. I tried out for our schools musical and got in, surprised at that I then found I had gotten the lead male solo, which was the music of the night. From then on my fate had been sealed. For two months I sang this song at least five times a day. It got to the point where I became phantom, it was truly a wonderful experience.

So now I bring it to you! I recently decided to start filming myself while singing, but I felt that this song was way to important to me to focus on me starring into a camera, this song needs to be heard and felt.

Now onto the song itself. This song..oh man, it was so hard when I first started singing this. Barely could get the opening lines right. But through some work I was able to develop it. I no way claim that I am better then any other phantom. And if you can't tell already my biggest inspiration is Michael Crawford. I idolize that amazing singer so much its almost insane. I could only dream of being able to come close to the amount of depth and emotion he puts into his voice and characters.

A few notes about the recording, I did this actually rather quickly, 3 takes to be precise, so it is not my best. I pretty much say that every video I make isn't my best because honestly everything is better live. I don't spend a huge amount of time recording and making it perfect because I want to look back on myself one day and see that this was just me singing in my spare time and to see how greatly my voice improves. Also it might be a little loud, so be prepared to turn it down. I also did this recording straight through, there was not start then stopping through the entire thing, I wanted to create as much of a live Broadway feeling as I could.

So after alllll of that reading I hope you guys enjoy listening as I did singing this. And even if its almost likely not to happen, if Mr. Crawford or Lord Webber you are out there listening, I just want to say thank you, you guys made my song take flight..

As always this video is done for karaoke fun, the only thing I own is my voice.

Thanks for listening everyone
~Dakota~

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • @SpiritedAmore thank you :)

  • this song peaks alot...open up your MIND let your fantasies unWIND, and close your EYES leave your THOUGHTS...the important thing to remember is not to be like a ball being thrown into the air, as in it gets up then comes right back down...pop those notes and hold them for their worth...first aflat nice second not so much...watch your pitch when you get higher and still keep your musicality don't force the notes...very good emotion in the words...nice job...and i don't say that often...

  • @TheMusicalman1234 Wow, thank you so much, probably the first person to critique me! I definitely feel like everything you have said is true. I honestly didn't practice this song much when I recorded this, and this song definitely warrants a lot more practice then what I put into it, but thank you, I will keep your advice at heart next time I attempt!

  • @haivinh219 do you mean the first time when he does it falsetto or the second time when he does it full voice? and what voice are you? cos if youre not a tenor it could just be too high

  • When I closed my eyes, I could picture myself in the audience in the West End watching Phantom of the Opera!

    Bravo!

  • @haivinh219 well im no musical instructor, but from what i've learned so far, is that if you warm up properly and make sure to open your mouth along with the words, it should come across a lot smoother. It mainly takes practice, scales every day is a great way to warm up those higher notes.

  • Could you please show me the tip of how you can do the high notes of this song? That would make my day cuz I really wanna do this song for my singing contest! Bless
