@TheBallernation It would be our guess that if you are smaller you probably are quicker than the bigger player. Use that to defeat him. Leg power is ok, but what kind and what do you hope to do?
-
Hey I'm short for basketball I'm only 5'9 is there any way and does that mean I need more leg power to be able to jump if a 6 foot guy or taller is guarding you
-
@ShotScience o.k cool, thank you i will definitly try that out.

@tandjteam Ah, good question! The index finger should be in the middle of the ball and if you were to check the direction of this finger it would be directly toward the hoop. If you do this it keeps the elbow in on your shot and gives you better direction on the shot.

Thanks!

i have 2 questions. on my non shooting hand what should i do with my thumb? because i seem to get a sideways-backspin on the ball and i think its my guide hand thumb causing it. also i am a righty and when i shoot the ball it starts in between my left eye and left shoulder instead of my righteye and should, but it seems to work for me.. should i consider changing it and bringing the ball over more because i have tried to change it so it is correct and it just doesnt work.. thanks!

@aburks41 We would bet money that the ASSIST HAND thumb is creating a shooting problem for you. It does create a sideways rotation on the ball if that thumb gets involved with your shot. We feel that it would be best in the long run for you to make the change, however, if you are "in-season" now wait until the end of the season and work on changing the location of the shot for better accuracy!

@ShotScience so basically when I set up for a shot, my shooting hand isn't directly infront of the ball instead it shofts to the right, Specifically when im gripping the ball to shoot my hand moves a bit to the right so my release looks messed up, but its more comftorable to me than the fundamental way of gripping the ball to shoot

@picturelego Well, if you want to develop a really good shot you need to develop the mechanics that will make this happen. If it doesn't matter to you then continue with what you are doing. All changes made to your shot usually takes only a few weeks and then you have it going. We recommend that if you decide to change use our videos and especially our "Get Perfect Shooting Form" video and drills.
