Late afternoon, the dead of winter, lying on my bed staring out the window at a tiny twirling windmill on the roof of a huge brick apartment building; this was when I first heard this song as a high school student in Boston in 1981. I remember my bedroom was cold because i lived in an old building, and I would just curl up under the blanket and stare out the window at the late afternoon winter shadows enveloping that huge apartment building across the street.
