@toby099 Less padding on the glove means the plaster has more direct contact with the face. He not only did what margarita attempted to do, but he tried to multiply it's affect by removing the padding from the gloves.

Is it just me, or Resto's gloves seemed more rectangular, while Collins's were round and fluffy...?

@toby099 For a start, compare rubber bullets with metal ones. Less padding means faster, harder, and more accurate punches -- at the expense of the lowered weight. But, since the kinetic energy of the punches is 0.5*m*v^2, your punches end up being more precise and powerful. Also, each impact (punch) releases some nrg (the kinetic nrg of the punch), which is dissipated between the objects (fist and head); if the fist is harder, it'll direct more of this nrg towards the target.

The HBO documentary { Assault In The Ring} Luis Resto says to his son,'" I knew of the gloves"! WHAT? He knew all along what he had in his 'gloves' plaster among the padding & who knows what else!!!!, and he still went on to fight Billy Collins? He honestly makes me sick to my stomach for what he did to Billy Collins Jr., he killed him!
