Yea its been a wile ............

Izakaya time at a great place in Matsumoto.

We mainly focused on chicken but there is plenty of other stuff on the menu as it is an izakaya :P

The izakaya is called ippo .......yes...... IPPO 一歩

Map to the izakaya HERE: http://g.co/maps/vg92a

Also featured is a small bar....a great place to get some drinks late at night. Not close to the station but defiantly worth a little extra walk. Both places are very close to Matsumoto castle.

Its called: おもや平出酒店 hiraide saketen....... its kind of an outlet for a liquor distributor or something hanging on the corner of the street attached to a small warehouse outlet. Fine fine whiskey and a nice variety of common and interesting drinks. I haven't seen such a variety of Yamazaki yet but then maybe I need to get out more :P

Their website: http://www.hiraide.biz/8/

MAP HERE: http://g.co/maps/afwxe

Next time your in Matsumoto check them out!!!

  • that was NICE! oh and i shall make a video on deep fried cheese....

care to hang out with me again? ^_^

  • @stefan5445 Yes please do a fried cheese vid :P

  • lol cool ending with the slow stumbling down an alley effect...missed your vids mate, you still have the best J vids around...That chicken gristle stuff doesn't sound so good, but I'll bet its tasty. We have a deep frier now, Fumi does a lot of menchi katsu type stuff. Gotta love deep fried, but I've been meaning to try sashimi horse. How was it?...I want to try whale as well, but I'd probably have to keep it quiet coz the greens would lynch me if they ever found out haha...kanpai mate : )

  • @MicknFumi The horse was the good quality stuff. Not the frozen stuff at the chain restaurants... with that said it was rich and full tasting and not gamey at all. I could have eaten the whole plate. Cheers dude hope all is well with you.

  • Hello Tod, I was just curious. Do you speak Japanese? Also: You've mentioned you teach English before and that teachers in Japan only need bachelor's degree. It sounds like a stupid question but do you need a degree in English literature/teaching to teach, or can anyone with a degree who speaks English well teach? Thank you!

  • @jaakizamazin Thats a loaded question.... love to answer it on Skype send me a contact request to toddatron

  • Omnomnomnom !

  • Sorry to completely monopolise this page, but, I am interested in the fact that one can still SMOKE indoors, in Japan. I know many smokers abound there, especially the men but I had also thought that smoking indoors was up to what it is over here in America, and not allowed.

  • At the follwing timepoints, what are we seeing, please?

    1) The delicious looking soup at timepoint 5:26?

    2) the delicious rice balls with something on their top, at timepoint 6:30? I love rice topped with whatever :)

    3) The delicious salad (made with what?) at timepoint 6:58?

    4) What do we see at 8:08? (just after the raw liver, Todd)

THANKS, Todd for any helpful replies in advance :)

  • @GimmeKitty Guessing that it is mainly made from chickie bird (chicken).

  • Todd, you talk about Nan Kotsu (sp?) but you don't mention what type of meat the Japanese MAINLY use to make it. Is it mainly made from chicken, or pork, or ... can one use any meat to make this yummy goodness?

  • @scusucks I agree. Isn't Todd missed????

  • What MicknFumi said: TODD you are missed, in extremis, here! I love your content and have done for quite some time.

Also, I can't SKYPE you (don't own a computer and you can't skype at our libraries) but I would also love to see a video response (right here!) to what jaakizamazin asked of you, above, please.

Todd, you are amazing and have so many fans and followers!

  • that has always been my favorite part of te chicken ever since i was a kid. who knew the japanese actually made it a delicasy. fantastic video. I would like to try it some day but for now I guess i'll stick to my moms mexican cooking. XD

  • Man you always make your food look so delicious. Do you use the same camera for still and video shots? Cute kids in here too, made me laugh @6:53 when she did the peace sign. Second time watching this but I seemed to have missed so much the first time! adding this to my food playlist =)
