  • Wonderful! I imagine these prints are rarely made as it does degrade the original plate a little, correct?

  • correct. Glad you liked it

  • yes as a rembrandt ething dealer... there is nothing better to invest in... don't look at my page as it is nothing to do with art.. i live here and know tim at the rembrandt house

  • it is indeed a good investment. Do you own pencil signed etchings or just the mass production ones?

  • yeah...those period phone books

  • How old are all of you, 10yrs old?!

This is a demonstration done within Rembrandt's famous home in Amsterdam.

They use his same room for the demo, as well as, period instruments.

    OBVIOUSLY NOT THE ORIGINAL PLATES!

It was very charming and although I had expected his huse/museum to be touristic, I was pleasantly surprised. It was very charming and a great deal of effort was made to re-create all as it was.

    Thank you for posting this!

  • well, sorry to say, but the title of this video is absolutely wrong.

a: this is not an original etchingplate of Rembrandt, who only worked with a copperplate.

b: if this was an original etchingplate of Rembrandt it should be called a 'reprint' (one of the tenthousants who are available)

but the process of printing is visible, very good!

I can recommand to watch the printing of a colouretching at this site: keyword: kleurets or colouretching

    hope yu will enjoy

  • Surely they are not still printing any of the original plates! If so, it would be a sacrilege, not only to further the degradation of extant original plates, but also because any modern day prints must be so worn that it should be a crime to pretend the resulting print would have any relation to the original conception.

  • Incredible! What an honor to print from one of Rembrandt's plates. Thank you for recording it sharing it with us.

  • great to see what i have been doing for days now! :-)

now i can send it to my girlfriend so that she can understand what i am doing here! :-)

  • uhmm this may seem like a stupid question, but I thought Rembrandt etchings were done on copper plates, but that plate looked like zinc cause it was silver. Is that steel plated for longjevity? or a zinc copy or did Rembrandt work in Zinc or is it some other metal?
