503, ramjets need velocity to work, the aux jets on the Neptune are Westinghouse J34-WE-36 turbojets with 3,400lbs thrust each.
The combination of the 3350's and jets make for a unique sound indeed.

Love to watch the P2-V dropping on fires. The whine of the auxillary jets is just perfect.
