Why is there always one ass that shows up for the sole purpose of being negative? It's like jermaineIndustryAnalwhore feels threatened that someone would use a different tool. i think Sonar is awesome. It has its flaws, but so does Logic and every other DAW. At the end of the day talent is going to determine the final product anyway.
Decent tutorial.
sk8ingisfun. Do you have your outputs routed to a drum synth?

how do you ensure that you have the correct instruments on the right midi notes. My kit my have a snare where you've programmed a midi kick drum hit.

Does anyone use Sonar in combination with the M-Audio Fast Track interfaces? I have followed these instructions, and the time indicator moves, but I can't get any sound out of the VST. I use the Session Drummer 3, and I haven't been able to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

@mididrumfiles Wow, I wished I would have known THAT before!

so, are those the default midi sounds? or is there a way to use alternate "kits"? i've been trying to figure that out, but i can't find the answer.

Dude how do I change midi instrument in a track?
There's a way to convert a midifile in mp3 or wav file?

1. In sonar you can simply EXPORT as a wave file.
3. Somebody told me that Windows Media Player will automatically convert them easily, but I haven't tried it.
2. There are a hundred thousand different converters you can find by doing a Google search...
However, most people want more control over the actual sound so I would suggest doing a 'real-time record' using whatever sound source you listen to the MIDI files in.

hi, what's the deal with the latency? I use an m-audio controller with the cheapo m-audio software called Sessions, and there's no latency at all.

Yeah, I think in general Latency probelms are becoming less and less frequent as technology gets better and computers get faster.
