    A good mounting location is a place on the hull where there are no hull protrusions in front of the transducer. This may include strakes that may end up at the bow, intakes, etc.

    A bad mounting location would be directly benind a strake that has ended, or directly behind a thru-hull. This will send airated water over the face of the transducer and transducers do not like to read through air bubbles
