Some of the old British bikes could be a nightmare to kick over. I remember a story about my uncles ganging together to buy an old AJS which they tried vainly to start for hours on end. When a friend asked "what does AJS stand for?" he received the reply, "Agh, Jesus, start!"

Went to a classic event in Northern Spain this year and watched open-mouthed as several 500 Velocettes there had electric starters...makes you think why the makers didn't do this to start with. It might have saved the British bike industry for a few years at least.

I well remember my old Norton ES2, a 500cc single, threw me in the air when I tried to kick start it once. No electric starts in those days!

My dad fitted one of these starters to his Vincent Rapide and its probably the only reason he can still ride it because he has a bad hip.
If you are young and fit then i agree with you but most Vincent riders aren't young or particularly fit from my experience lol

They sound really nice especially the yellow one. How is the electric start adapted in? Do they use valve lifters? I've built a high compression 883cc BSA twin that can be difficult to kick.
