We all know what film is, and we know what
"a film" is (a movie), and we know what a
documentary film is, and so forth.
And we know what film can be used for both
in traditional theathre or more modern uses.
However, in my ever a-tilt windmills search
for the idea of FILM as art object - in the
same way that a painting is an art object.
Some of the stuff that i've been writing about
this on these pages:
...(at times it all seems such a mish-mash that
i think to give up. alas, the tragedy is that
i can not....

Part of the problem (if there IS one) in playing in film vs theatre (or other perf work) is how to SCALE the perfomance.
The film captures every nuance, theatre - esp in the "back rows" - you have to PROH-JECT your voice and gestures.

Tape-011 of a series in art and film production - theory and practice. Starting the discussion of maquette's (prop aramatures, etc) as "chars" in a film. The goal here is modern animation (as well as traditional stop-action, etc) techniques. Don't over act: The camera (esp more than live theatre/performance) captures 100 x more than you expect so over-acting really doesn't work; eg, Janeane Garofalo's role in "Mystery Men" underplayed her part which turned out to be exactly what was required.
