Why Sudan rejects UN troops.

by Sara Flounders

U.S. efforts at re-establishing occupation and colonial domination suffered a new setback on Sept. 4. The government of Sudan refused to allow United Nations forces to be stationed in its western region of Darfur.

On Sept. 1, the U.S. and Britain had ram med Resolution 1701 through the UN Security Council. It called for sending more than 20,000 UN troops to Sudan to take over from 7,000 African Union forces.

Presidential adviser Mustafa Osman Ismail responded that the Sudanese government rejected the transition from African Union forces, which it had accepted, to a larger UN presence, because the goal of the UN mandate is "regime change." (Reuters, Sept. 4)

  • @klmemirates The problems in Darfur and the Sudan, as that woman well knows, predate the discovery of natural resources. The Islamic forces of the north have for 1,400 years constantly raided and attacked their non-Muslim neighbours, used them as a slave resource and kept them in dire poverty. Now that oil and natural riches have been discovered the attacks have become more ferocious and genocidal. The Western and Chinese interest are the local people’s only hope.

  • Sudan doesn't want UN Peacekeepers because then they will have to stop using their Chinese Communist oil money to commit mass murder and rape in DarFur, where they want to get more oil. I like how Sara Flounders didn't even mention the genocide; she supports the sale of blood diamonds and the previous murderous state of affairs in Somalia. She's a member of the Communist "Workers World Party". Al-Jazeera, once again you have failed in Journalism.

  • the love of money is the root of all evil

  • To add to your reports, Sudan also has the longest River inthe world its also from the rivers of paradise (according to one of our prophet narations p.b.u.h.), the best agricutural resources, the richest in its natioral resources, the best geographical location in the world, especially its Northern east borders with the Red Sea. However, Sudan is now an oil pruducer country. where-as with faith (i.e. Islam) and kowlege we are going full-fil what we are aiming for.

  • The separation of Southern Sudan ( which is engineered by the west) should be made AFTER a whole NATIONAL Referendum by ALL Sudanese NORTH and South..Let all Sudanese people have their word ....NOT Just Section of people. .coz it affect and matter all sundaes

  • 1mcsource (9 months ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam I wouldn't suspect the Sudanese to benefit from the goverment of China in the long run. Look to how their (China) own people fair as an example... thx Ismael
