  • You are right about flywheel, the engine had the heavier one some time ago , this engine is 8 years old and I found some different application for the flywheel :-)

  • Thank you, but I do not have any students.

  • For the piston I used the aluminium from old hard drive casing, the hard drive casing alloy is the same as the real pistons made of, I melted it in home log burner in a petfood can and poured into the aluminium tube that was stuck into the sand to block open side of the tube.

so the piston is solid aluminium cast.

    Thanks

  • It is ok if people asking questions it is mean that they are somehow interested, thanks for your interest.

    Regards Alex

  • The application is simple - just to anderstand the principal of the stirling motor operation and the only true way - is to build the moving model by yourself just what I have done.

    Thanks

  • wow that is so awesome you should make a tutorial on how to build it! very interested 5/5

  • i think you should use a heavier flywheel? that way it would be easier to get it going

  • I made a mathematical model and found that difrent sise drive pistons are more or less eficient at difrent tempratures, I think you could make it run much better by playing with piston sizes

  • Liked too much. Great machine!

  • i wonder if you had a few mirrors under if it would get hot enough to run with solar power.

  • Congratulations to your students for a job well done!

    Peace

    Gill

  • Type "boyd's tin can stirling engine" in on google and click on the first site and you will find plans for this exact engine this site will work, I have made one and it works good.

  • Amazing ingenuity , and yes I did not intend to be negative about your accomplishment , I just did not understand that it could use something else as an energy source such as solar power, thanks!
