Testing Procedures - Proper BIA Assessment (Bio Electrical Impedance Analyzer)

Cal Poly FLASH Research & Assessment students will watch and use this video to learn how to medically assess human subjects using a Bio Electrical Impedance Analyzer.

The BIA Analyzer, costing $2500, calculates body fat percentages in humans. Muscle cells contain 70 - 75% H2O and fat cells contain about 10% H20. The two cells have very different electrical properties. The pulse runs quickly through healthier subjects, where the pulse is much slower running through larger subjects. An electrical pulse, that does not hurt will run through the participants body detecting their body fat percentage or mass.

This is how its performed.
