The default partitioning of the flash is stupid. The first thing I do after I reflash the device is to 1) repartition the flash into two areas. The first area I leave as FAT and make that just big enough for the swap file. I format the second partition as EXT3. 2) using soft links, move /home and /usr/share into that new EXT3 second partition.
I've had an n810 bouncing around in my pocket, bag, car floor, etc for about a year, without a case, with no problem. The screen is still basically like new.
