Here Chris Nelder discusses the lack of funding in the U.S. assigned to rail transport and how China and Europe are leaders in public transport because of their command economies dictating how government funds are spent.
The road (rail) to hell is paved with good intentions...
Kiss any remaining liberty and freedom good bye... so you can be a cog in an efficient totalitarian nightmare.
The answer is decentralization as far as energy production goes which is less efficient but more robust, less subject to corruption, top down control and abuse.
How is the top down monopolistic control of oil, gas and electricity working out??
What is sustainable about rail transportation? You still need energy for that and you still don't stop with draging stuf around the world. Real sustainability is local production and local consumption. You don't need rail for that.
One of the problems with government spending $2T is that they BORROW the money. Our money system is a HUGE problem with command economy. We The People have no power to command, because such a small percentage of us own almost all the capital resources. And, we lack the political will to tell that few percentage that they can no longer rent money to us. Our money system shouldn't stop us from doing the right thing.
Command economy . Way to go!
