The unlikeliest train ever! London transport and GWR steam locomotives haul a class 305 electric multiple unit plus MK2 and Mk1 passenger coaches through Wembley Park station one Thursday evening. At the end a London Transport battery locomtive tails the train.

The train was on a test trip for a 'Steam on The Met' event the coming weekend.

  • I never knew Metro No.1 had a mainline ticket

  • @KinletHallsthebest Hi there, what is 'Metro No1'?

    Simon

  • @citytransportinfo Metro No.1 is a the leading engine. No.1 is a Metropolitan railway's E class steam locomotive, with an 0-4-4t wheel arrangement. The engine behind is an Great Western 9400 class pannier tank, with 0-6-0pt wheel arrangement. I hope that answers your question, both engines are located at the Buckinghamshire railway centre.

  • @SouthernRailwayFan

    Thanks :-)

As it happens, yesterday I was digitising another video tape and included in the scenes was a Pannier tank hauling a single carriage passing Northwick Park on the northbound fast line.

  • What livery are the last two coaches in?

  • @citytransportinfo Yeah, nice fresh diesel smoke, but I wonder if it's too much...

  • The red loco at the front doing all the black smoke

  • Excellent vid!

  • Love that all the windows are open on that 305, going to smell pretty good for the next lot of commuters who use it!

  • Was that a 308, in tow there?
