He probably had to cut the muscle because it probably can become malignant and cancerous or even dead tissue that can become gangrene. My guess is he didn't want to have an operation cos thats just house, the trailer makes it look like hes actually taking it to the limit but my guess is thats the best way, i will be major disappointed if season 8 is the last season, there are so many american dramas out there that have nothing on House, this show is 1 in a million!!

@icandy51 I know this is one of the greatest shows ever. I really want Hugh Laurie to come to the UK for a bit and do stuff over here, especially with Stephen Fry but I defo dont want House to end ever.

@RevengedSorrow Hugh only signed on for one more season, the eighth season. That's it. Even David Shore is not signed on for any more seasons. In fact as of now, David Shore isn't even signed on for season 8 although it seems likely that it will happen. According to what I read on variety.com, there are no plans for continuing after season 8 because Hugh is tired of spending ten out of twelve months away from his family. I can understand that.

My guess is he doesnt want to get an operation at the hospital, because they would find out that hes been on the rat experimental drugs and he would be very likely to lose his license... I have no idea how hes going to pull this off..
