From 1933:
The very peppy "Dancing On A Rainbow" Number with Maureen O'Sullivan. The end of the number was influenced with German Expressionist filmmaking of the era, I think.

  • Maureen was in "A Day at The Races " the love interest and singing partner of Allen Jones(star of the early "Showboat") with the famous Marx Brothers. I always thought of Maureen as the girl with the twinkle in her eye and a pixie like persona. Jane from Tarzan diving nude into the pool at the waterfall Despised working with the chimp Cheetah during the filming of the Tarzan movies at MGM and, according to daughter Mia Farrow, privately referred to the primate as "that ape son of a bitch!"

  • FYI the nude swimming scene was done by an olympic swimmer body double

  • It's like a cross between the early talkie and the later more visually fluid numbers.

  • This number was designed by Albertina Rasch, who was very prominant in early talkies as a dance director.

  • @miyike Thank you so much!

  • Respond to this video... ....(continued) romancing up in heaven, while angels sing a song, I'm dancing on a rainbow all day long!

  • @Locusta22 Day was dark and gray clouds filled the sky, in my heart there only was a sigh, you appeared and skies above were blue, then the sun shone through, now I'm dancing on a rainbow, each morning, noon and night, I'm floatin' on a daydream, I'm higher than a kite, my heart is all a-flutter, I heard you utter yes, I want the world to know, all the folks below I'm dancing on a rainbow, a pocket full of sunshine, I'll gather for you soon and later in the evening, I'll go and get the moon

  • @SuzieQ222 This is from "Stage Mother" and the blonde is Maureen's stage mother in the movie, Alice Brady, a wonderful comedienne!

  • I like this, thanks for sharing!

  • Beautiful song! Thanks for sharing

Could you help me with lyrics, I can't understand some words :(

  • Outstanding!

  • Anyone who knows the lyrics?

  • I agree with bigsexyshaq, where is that lovable artistry that makes one so happy? Does anyone know what movie this is from? Or if the blonde dame in the audience is Texas Guinan? Thanks for sharing!

  • @perfectjazz78 Never knew that. Thanks
