Poor Polar Bear in Beijing Zoo

This poor Polar Bear in captivity at Beijing Zoo. Its fur was more brown than white, it was all matted and dirty. He was begging for food all the time we saw him. Even though there were huge signs saying DO NOT FEED ME, IT WILL MAKE ME SICK, all the locals were still throwing in sweet buns, cakes, crisps - anything that they had. There wasn't a single zookeeper in sight to make sure that people weren't feeding the animals, as all the animals we saw were being fed by the ignorant Chinese tourists.

The enclosures for all bears - polar bear, 2 brown bears and 3 or 4 panda bears - they were all small, baron, no water and except for the pandas, no natural habitat at all -- just concrete surroundings all round.

It was very sad and we decided to leave early without seeing all the animals.

In 2009 peta impounded 2,366 animals. 2,301 were killed, 8 were adopted.(97%kill rate) in 2006 1960 cats were impounded, 1942 killed(99% kill rate) and 1030 dogs were impounded, 988 killed (96% kill rate). from 2000-2009 peta killed 21,537 animals. Peta's budget is 33million while less than 1% is actually spent on helping animals. In the 1970's Ingrid Newkirk killed dozens of animals in shelters a day.

Poor animal. No water to cool off and shouldn't allow people to throw scraps. Should get proper diet. Only in China

POOR POLAR BEAR!! I would LOVE to torture the people watching that happen as if it's nothing and leaving the poor bear in a terribly unclean environment like that!

I'm sure by looking cute people drop food to him. Most all zoos offer snacks and food to humans, and there is nothing to stop them from taking it to the animals and tossing it into their enclosure. Bears also have such a great sense of smell, I'm sure this one thinks these people smell delicious!

They are not throwing stones. Read description people. It says people are throwing food to feed this polar bear even though there is a sign says "DO NOT FEED ME, IT WILL MAKE ME SICK".
