Here in Sweden there is a problem with the ferrys from the mainland to an Island called Gotland (around 40 000 people lives there). The ferries are similar to this one (doing 28-36 knots etc.). The problem is that in the high season (summer, of course) the ferrys are packed to the max, and it's hard to find tickets. Ironicly, during the winter theres around 80 % less travellers on each trip. This means that the ferry is more eco friendly summertime, but flying is more eco friendly during winter.

I was stationed there from 2002-2005. We did our job and followed orders. The locals need to protest the politicians, not the people enforcing the laws.

have you noticed that the protesters are all white. and white people can afford airline tickets when travelling betwwen islands, yet the locals suffer because the ferry is the only cheap way to visit relatives.

The superferry appears to off-islanders to be an environmental hazard, we do not live on Kauai, but respect the protesters and what they are doing. If I lived there, I would also be on that dock, with my family, standing up for the beings in the ocean who cannot protest. We have all seen the footage of what the superferry can do to whales and the environment beneath the waters, if the ecology is damaged beyond repair, generations to come will regret this if you do not continue to fight.
