Funny how the Mk 2 I own , it doesnt matter how you drive it , a smooth change through the gears is near on impossible!Its not always pausing that can save the box from going you know.

atleast these crash gear box men didn't need to deal with all the scum of the day, they had a conductor.

Yes you are right, pause between gear changes.
Due to the design of the gearbox, it takes a second to engage a gear, but two seconds to disengage. Hence the need for the pause. But unfortunately, many drivers are unaware of this. Drive one of these properly, you will get a ride second to none. They are joy to drive. Some people try to drive a semi-auto like a manual, but they don't succeed.

Thats what a good driver would do. how some of the so called drivers these days would have managed with a crash gearbox as on some of the Midland Reds from earlier days, I dread to think.
