Dr. Fieldman went on to graduate from medical school and spent the next 15 years sharing his unusual perspective on the doctor-patient relationship, and championing a holistic approach to medical care. The Pittsfield internal medicine specialist died from brain cancer June 1. He was 38.
You say it seems arrogant of you to have gone against the doctors; to me it seems arrogant of them to ignore a therapy which is manifestly working for you and insist on surgery instead. How ironic also, that you are involved in a so-called "health" profession which makes its own members sick through stress and overwork! Doctors seem to be in need of more healing than their patients and the whole philosophy of medicine should be overhauled.
Kudos for being so honest but are you seriously still considering becoming a doctor? Or, if you've graduated are you seriously considering practicing?
Every time you went back to practicing or studying medicine, you put your life on the line.
Thank you for sharing your story. I was thinking of showing your video to my cooking class students but on second thought....
